A note on happiness

Happiness comes at the expense of abandoning expectations and weighing the scale of what you gave and what they returned. The moment it becomes dependent on what they do, what they give, and their words, your happiness will waver. You will always find yourself somewhere between half full of what they fed you and half empty of the expectations they failed to fulfil. Your heart will continuously find itself tiptoeing between emotions that are shelved on the if’s that define what you feel. You will find yourself shadowed under the clouds of what should be rather than what is and that will only ever serve you disappointments. You cannot continuously switch between environments and then wonder why you don’t bloom- nor can you hand over to others the responsibility to water your roots. Happiness is not dependency – that is attachment. Happiness is freedom – it lets you breathe through the chaos.
